TJ Homecrafts Stained Glass offers classes for all skill levels. All our classes are designed to give students hands on experience with a variety of different tools and materials, and no sharing of tools. Whether you are a beginner interested in finding out a bit about stained glass or an experienced glass artist looking to expand your knowledge you will find our classes fun, interesting and informative. Class sizes are small, so you get plenty of one-on-one instruction and unless otherwise indicated, all materials are included in the price.

Introduction to Stained Glass

Fun & easy to learn! This one-day beginner class is designed to introduce students to the art of stained glass using the copper foil method of construction. During the class students will learn pattern preparation, glass cutting, fitting, soldering and more while making a simple suncatcher in their choice of colours. This class will provide students with all the knowledge they need to continue with this fun and enjoyable art form. Price includes use of tools and all materials.

Introduction to Stained Glass

Introduction to Leaded Glass

This one-day beginner class is designed to introduce students to the art of stained glass using the lead came method of construction. During the class students will learn basic glass cutting, pattern preparation, lead came assembly techniques, soldering, finishing and more while making a simple suncatcher in their choice of colours. Price includes the use of tools and all materials.

Introduction to Leaded Glass class

Leaded Glass Panel

This two-day class is designed to introduce you to a technique other than the copper foil method and teaches you the basics of working with lead channel. Using a design chosen by the instructor, students will learn to how to construct a stained glass panel using lead came. Glass cutting, pattern preparation, reinforcing and finishing will also be covered. Price includes the use of tools and all materials.

Glass and Crystal Suncatcher

This one-day introductory class teaches students the basics of stained glass using the copper foil method of construction. During the class students will learn simple glass cutting, fitting and soldering while making a beautiful suncatcher in their choice of colours. For the centre of their suncatcher students can choose either a crystal or semi-precious stone which can be removed at any time and worn as a pendant if desired. Price includes use of tools and all materials.

Stained Glass Feathers

During this one-day class you will learn about the copper foil method of stained glass while making two beautiful stained glass feathers in your choice of colours. No experience necessary. Price includes use of tools and all materials.

Stained Glass Lamp

This two-day class will teach you the techniques that take the mystery out of lamp construction. Using a design chosen by the instructor, students will make an attractive lamp in their choice of colours. Learn about glass selection, vase caps, spiders and reinforcing. A variety of lamp assembly tools will be available for students to use during the class. Students should have basic cutting and soldering skills for this class. The cost includes the use of tools and all materials except glass. Glass must be or have been purchased at TJ Homecrafts Stained Glass.

Improve Your Soldering

If you spend hours working on a project just to be disappointed by your soldering, this class is for you. During this two-hour class you will learn professional soldering techniques as well as the do's and don'ts that can affect the look of your finished project. Bring a project to the class that is ready to solder (approx. 15 to 20 pieces), solder and your soldering iron and get ready to say good-bye to bumps, flat spots and wavy lines.

Stained Glass Plant Pot

In this two-day class students will learn tips for assembling 3 dimensional projects while making a 7" diameter plant pot in their choice of colours. You must have basic cutting skills for this course. The cost includes the use of tools and all materials.

Introduction to Glass Fusing

During this three-hour course students will learn the basics of glass fusing using ‘System 96’ products. Students will have the opportunity to work with a variety of glass frit, stringers and noodles while creating four fused coasters or an 8" plate which will be ready for pick up the following week. The properties of glass and how they impact glass when it is heated in the kiln, as well as safety are discussed during the course of the class. Examples of completed projects and failed pieces are used to show not only how to make properly finished projects, but also how to solve problems and prevent failures in the future. No experience necessary. Price includes use of tools and all materials.

Garden Fairies

In this one-day class students will learn about the art of stained glass and simple glass cutting and soldering while making two garden fairies with brass filigree accents. Garden fairies are charming in both indoor and outdoor plant pots and are a great addition to your garden. No experience necessary. Price includes use of tools and all materials.

Flying Angel

This two-hour class is a great way to introduce yourself to the art of stained glass. Using pre-cut glass pieces and a selection of brass filigree accents students will make a lead wrapped, hanging angel that will be a perfect Christmas gift for someone special. No experience necessary. Price includes the use of tools and all materials.
